One of the main attractions of San Juan's Isla Verde
resort area is the fantastic beach that seems to extend for miles. Lined with luxury condos and some of the best known resorts in Puerto Rico, Isla Verde Beach is one of the most exclusive places to live and play for locals and tourists.

Isla Verde Beach is now a Blue Flag Beach!
The blue Flag Program, initiated in Europe in 1987 has been updated for the Caribbean. It is a voluntary program that has proven to be a very effective strategy to guarantee the best quality in beach services, maintenance and safety. Isla Verde Beach is one of the first beaches in Puerto Rico to be certified as a Blue Flag Beach.

If you stay at one of the luxury resort hotels along the beach - like the Ritz Carlton, Wyndham El San Juan, The Water Club, Courtyard by Marriott or Intercontinental Hotel - you'll pay much more just to be directly on the same beach.
Coqui Inn is just two blocks from the very same beach used by these exclusive hotels and resorts - but offers everyday value rates for comfortable accommodations. We don't have all of the fancy services, amenities and on-site facilities as the luxury hotels, but we're just a short walk from the very same beach!
Its easy to get to Isla Verde Beach from Coqui Inn. Just go outside our front door and you'll see a very nice palm-tree lined park across the street. Follow the sidewalk in between the rows of palm trees until you reach the stairway to the overpass which crosses the highway.

There are 40 stairs to climb, and then a short walk across the overpass. Once you reach the end of the overpass, you'll see the Burger King, palm trees and the ocean beyond. Go down the stairs, cross the street, and just to the right, you'll find a gate that is your pathway to the beach.
Follow the path until you see the palm tree and you've arrived at our section of Isla Verde Beach! Once you arrive at the beach, you have a great beach for walking, sunbathing, splashing, or just hanging out under the palm trees. You'll have a great time at Isla Verde Beach!

Isla Verde Beach is very large, so you'll never feel crowded no matter what direction you choose once you arrive at the beach!

Imagine living in a large city and having a beautiful beach as your back yard. That is exactly what the million or so residents of San Juan enjoy every day. There's no need to go far to enjoy a beautiful tropical day at the beach.
Isla Verde Beach is actually a series of beaches stretching for miles in front of luxury resorts and posh high-rise residential apartments, restaurants and private clubs, guesthouses and private homes, parks, and even a cemetery!
A tranquil place during the week, Isla Verde really comes alive on weekends. Beach lovers stream in from everywhere to get some sun, splash in the sea, party with family and friends, play beach volleyball, or walk along the sandy shores. There is no shortage of places to eat or drink. Many hotels and restaurants have bars and casual restaurants adjacent to the beach.
While most visitors soak up the sun reading, napping, or taking a lazy stroll in the surf line, the more adventurous go parasailing, bodysurfing, water skiing and jet skiing, or participate in many of the other water sports offered by the hotels and seaside shops.
Depending on the hour of the day and the day of the week, Isla Verde can be anything from a solitary stretch of glistening sand to a Coney Island crowd of happy sun worshippers, but it is always a delight.
